    Piano Evaluation

To establish piano value, the instrument must be inspected and damage noted. Keys, action, strings, tuning pins, soundboard and bridges are inspected. Any repairs that the piano needs are accounted for, and subtracted from what the piano would fetch in the retail market. Any outstanding or unusual features are taken into account when appraising market value for the instrument, as well as the age, size and manufacturer. Simply comparing looks between a piano and another with a price attached is not an accurate way to evaluate an instrument.

If a person is interested in purchasing a piano, new or used, an evaluation by an independent technician is the best way to prevent any costly mistakes in purchasing.
